Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Parti per saltire Azure (Celestial) and lozengy of the like and Argent, in chief two wings conjoined in leure displayed of the last in base a mullet of eight points Silver.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed BY OUR DEEDS ALONE in Black letters.

Symbolism
The blue and white (silver) patterned background refers to the arms of Bavaria, the Battalions first overseas assignment.  Wings are for the Aviation function.  The star alludes to Texas, the Lone Star State, where the unit was activated.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 27 August 1965.
